It was about a (to me at least) new nifty tool in the on going anti-cheater effort. I'm by no means advocating a migration to this (it only works for the HL mod CS anyway) instead of PB but I do belive it would be a very useful tool to supplement PB if it was ever ported to other games.
I was wondering if anyone knows any thing about it or if the have seen it being used and if so what they think about it. Personally I feel if it works as well as it seems to it would do a great deal to cut down on the lamers.
I hope I don't get anyones nose out of joint with this post.

Before anyone does get "their nose out of joint" I will state that this IS anti cheat stuff, and not a cheat.
And I must say that this has a realm of possibilities, imagine a program that can watch in real time, recognise cheat behaviour and symptoms, and based upon a stringent scoring system can tell you the actual likliehood of a player cheating, this is the stuff my wet dreams are made off :D
Azonacun Productions, the creators of HackCam seem to have signed a non-disclosure agreement, presumably with Valve, potentially about the integration of HC in VAC2 and regular distribution through the steam network.
Also check out http://www.the-space.net/ The servers on the right are running hackcam i do believe, When i added this one "cs-s2.the-space.net" to my favourites on steam. It say that was a "secure server" . This was for Css and vac2 isn't out yet* :hmm:
(*It is logging bans or whatever, but let's face it . It isn't out yet...)
2) Post in the correct forum (this belongs in the VAC forum)
3) Hackam uses cheats therefore will be detected as a cheat by VAC2.
1) I never seen anything posted above it on the forums before, atleast nothing to the scale of the "when is vac2 coming out?" threads.
2) I thought i explained why i didn't put it in the vac forum. :( You are probably right though.
3) Really? I never heard of that before. It's server side though isn't it, so how would vac2 ban that... Also like i said on the post quoting from wikipedia it said

Surely it can't be banned if valve themselves are interested.
So could the topic be reopened and moved to the vac forum?
i'm not taking a dig at you or anything. I'm just confused to why it was locked... After seaching the forums, searching the term "hackcam" i only got 18 hits!!!
Only one other topic had hackcam in the name... And that topic was closed after 3 replies... I am well used of forums and searching and so on. I have never had a topic closed like this... I think it was closed unfairly. That is just my opinion. I would like to know a bit more on why it was closed?
This is the reply i got back.

The "higher ups" have said to close and/or delete any hackcam threads. Sorry :(
The higher uppers being valve i presume, like i said the rabbit holes deepens. :hmm:
I hope Gabe Newell doesn't get to the admins here :P

I've been reading the forums of hackcam and get the impression that valve (aka some old micro$uck$ employees) where a bit upset that hackcam detected cheats better than their new vac2 prog. Also from what I've read azhole is working on a client side version so that could be what valve is refereing to for banning. Hmmm doesn't valve use their own type of game browser and if so maybe that is how valve will ban them?
opb
Oh and thanks for the other links Veire. I'll check them out.

My understanding from your original post on this after doing some reading and searching.
Is, That right now cheat Cam is client side and is final code. (Something to do with CAL matches) That right now the Server Side Client is beta and created to deal with VAC2.
Also I belive that the http://www.the-space.net/ are friends/co-coders of the cheat Cam and are used as there test bed. Something the author mentioned in the interview I thought.
This guy is throwing a lot of money at this project of his and I can bet even if Valve/Steam shut him out that we'll see cheat Cam some where else and it may prove to be the ultimate anti-cheat out there.
Ok they must have sensored H*A*C*K*ER because a cheat uses it in its name.
