Hi guys,

Probably a dumb question... but figured it wouldn't hurt anyone (except my ego) to ak.

Was checking through a few logs and noticed that certain players had different filesizes for their d3d8.dll and opengl32.dll

[From #1 ] My dx C:\WINDOWS\System32\d3d8.dll size=1177600 md5=CB1F190CEEC0D7D2DE02BFEFA6931B4B
[From #1 ] My gl C:\WINDOWS\System32\opengl32.dll size=685568 md5=11CC241BEE030FC2982413A59E6E32B7

[From #4 ] My dx C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3d8.dll size=1179648 md5=42803EC60803C1A0754671E9183458F1
[From #4 ] My gl C:\WINDOWS\system32\opengl32.dll size=713728 md5=F78A67E88F98D4CC871E6F3068343F00

So the question is, should these files be the same size and produce the same md5 hash. Or, is it perfectly acceptable for them to be different (eg different versions of opengl and d3d8)

I'm confused, lol

They can definitely be different sizes. Happens all the time. Its all dependant on whats installed, what operating system, what version, what games use opengl32 etc, video drivers, video card, etc. Lots of variables.

Thanks for that Assneck, literally just this second stumbled across the answer myself...

http://www.programchecker.com/file/3888.aspx lists 3 different files, but i guess there could easily be more. From reading in the forum it seems the only time to worry is if the file is in the game directory, in which case PB will pick up on it anyways. Or something biggrin.gif

Thanks again for the quick reply
