I am a friend of deadmeat. He turned me onto this site, he is currently away. I am helping our server out.

It was suggested to me tonight to try setting our server /sv_fps to 30.

Have any of you seen any problems with setting i. Our server is currently set at 20.

It's a somewhat common practice to raise the server framerate to 30 to make the gameplay “smoother.” What “smoother” means in this case is that Quake 3's built-in 50ms lag becomes 33ms or 25ms, and everyone sees things a bit more like how they happen on the server. We use 30 on our server. This CAN have a negative effect, in that more bandwidth is required of the player-- can cause skipping for some players with lousy connections, but we have found it is more pro than con for our guests.

Increases the tickrate of the server.

Pro = It will make hitting people easier and the game will run smoother.

Con = Will cause higher cpu usage and raise pings.

Ditto what they said. Try it out, if it sucks, then change it back. Also I'm still sending DEADMEAT emails...do I need to be sending them to you? or who is in charge of the ATF server now?

Deadmeat and I talked alot about the server. Gabriel, is in full charge of the server. But I have been asked to help the server operate -- kicks --bansa -- settin gs and so forth. he deals with the communication with the host and makes most changes.
Deadmeat gave me many logfiles and a couple of programs to use to follow up on cheaters. There are still a gew cobwebs in my head. He is now away for a while in the armed forces. So I cannot talk with him and ask him many questions.
