Remote Console

BF2 has a native RCON facility which can be extended by the use of scripts such as ModManager. To set it up, if your provider hasn't already:

  • Create or edit /admin/default.cfg in the BF2 install
  • Enter the following lines, along with your own password: 
port=4711
password=YourPassword
  • Save the file and restart the server for changes to take effect

Using RCON In-game

  1. When in-game, press ` or ~ to drop down your console
  2. Enter: rcon login YourPassword
  3. Enter: rcon exec pb_sv_restart (replacing with the PB command that you wish to run)

Using Console RCON Client

  1. Open up a DOS prompt and navigate to your BF2 install directory
  2. Enter: adminutils/rcon/remoteconsole.exe -h 1.2.3.4 -p 4711 (replacing with your server's address and port if not the default 4711)
  3. Enter: exec pb_sv_restart (replacing with the PB command that you wish to run)

Patch Issues

INSTALL BF2 OFF CD INSTALL special Forces. update bf2 to 1.2 patch off CD. Euro forces install bf2 1.4 full patch.

DUAL PROCESSORS

problem bf2 user's can't stay on servers with out the message appearing."disconect from host" SOLUTION: dual processor's switch down to 1 cpu.

HOW TO: run bf2 and then alt+tab out of main screen,press ctrl+alt+del and select process tab.look for bf2.exe and right click on it,you will get a menu on the bottom of the list is the command. SET AFFINTY, Click this and switch off cpu 1.

you will need to do this everytime.before you join any servers. also there is a fix out now for AMD X2 processors: http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/amdcpu.exe just download that and run it.this will help bf2 and other games.adds /usepmtimer to the boot.ini file.

Known Bugs

  • PB/RCON integration is poor, with output to PB server commands only being displayed on the server console output. PB commands can be executed over RCON successfully however, but the game's RCON system doesn't capture the results.
